Yee-Haw Taproom Now Open!

The Yee-Haw Brewing Company Taproom is officially open. After months of meticulous renovation to the old East Tennessee and Western North Carolina (ET&WNC) train depot, the finishing touches have been completed and Yee-Haw Brewing Company is ready for all to stop by, see the place they call home and join them for a Yee-Haw beer right where it’s made. The old Eastern Tennessee & Western North Carolina (ET&WNC) depot otherwise known as the Tweetsie Depot — home to the Yee-Haw Brewery and Taproom — has gone through a major transformation both inside and out. The building’s facade has been taken back to the original brickwork, as have the walls inside the taproom and brewery. The joists and trestles were left intact, giving a nod to the original functionality of the building. Large windows offer a view into the inner workings of the brewery itself. The taproom bar has been created by using old radiators with the original scrollwork still visible on each section. The foot rail under the bar has been fashioned from salvaged materials, and the wooden boards on the deck are over 120 years old. There is ample seating both inside and out, complete with a fire pit for when the nights turn chillier.

“We knew this building was something special the first time we saw it”, says founding partner Joe Baker. “Our goal was to restore it to its former glory, while at the same time making it a warm, unique, comfortable place where people can gather with family and friends, and just relax. I think we’ve accomplished exactly that.”

Opening in conjunction with the Yee-Haw Taproom is White Duck Taco Shop. The Asheville-based White Duck Taco team worked tirelessly to be able to offer their global-fusion tacos to the Johnson City community at the same time the Yee-Haw taproom opened. Patrons will be able to enjoy the flavors of White Duck Taco while sipping their favorite Yee-Haw beer in an environment that is unlike any other in the area. The Taproom and White Duck Taco Shop will be open seven days a week, opening each day at 11:30am. The last orders for food and beer will be taken at 9pm, with doors closing at 10pm.  Patrons will find Yee-Haw’s four flagship beers — Pilsner, Pale Ale, Eighty Shilling Scottish Ale, and Dunkel dark lager — on tap; all of which are currently in distribution across the Tri-Cities area. Yee-Haw seasonal and specialty beers will be added as they become available.
